We have had the pleasure of giving numerous tours to clients of Atlantic Beef Products over the last couple of years. Asparagus planting

Yesterday we planted some asparagus crowns. Since we have a small acreage we do it all by hand. With the help of some neighbors (Alex and Tessa Craig) we had planted 1000 plants in under two hours.
For those of you who are not familiar with asparagus, the material you plant are called crowns, a root mass that resembles spiders, for lack of a better term.
It will be 2013 before these plants will  be ready for harvest. Asparagus is a perennial crop and must be allowed to get established and build...

Maritime Angus Field Day

Good luck to all the junior exhibitors at the Maritime Angus Field Day and Junior show tomorrow in Port Elgin, NB.  It is being hosted by the Booth and Oulton families and many thanks to them. There are many sponsors that help to make this event an annual success. All the semen that is sold after the show has been graciously donated from across the country and all proceeds go to the juniors.
