He's here!

March 27, 2010
HF Torque 171W arrived on PEI yesterday. There were about 15 on the truck that started in Alberta with pickups in Sask and Ont. along the way. We are very pleased with Torque. He is square hipped, strong topped, long spined and walks extremely well. Pictures will follow soon.

finished product!

March 24, 2010
I delivered our navy beans to Maurice Girouard of St. Paul, NB a couple of weeks ago. It has been a learning experience over the last couple of years as growing these white beans organically has been a challenge. Keeping the beans from staining during harvest and battling molds and mildew due to our wet summers has been a full time job! Finally we are seeing a final product. Thanks Maurice.

Our new herdsire, HF Torque 171W arrives on Friday, will post pics when he is rested up.

Easter Beef show

March 13, 2010
Went to the Easter Beef show on Thursday. Cattle were good and the judges, Lee and Dawn Wilson did an excellent job, especially with the 4-H show as they took the time to give positive comments and criticism to all exhibitors. Congratulations to Justin Ford for showing "Blue", a steer purchased from us to 2nd place and champion Intermediate showman!

It has been about 50 years since there have been dairy cows on this farm but there's one here now. After a crazy heifer nearly killed her calf and another cow went down, we have two calves to feed. I called around and found a great cow that took to both calves r...

Quite a week!

January 29, 2010
We have had fantastic weather this week. Sunshine and temps in the single digits. The only snow is along the hedgerows.
Today, however is a different story. Have about a foot and a half of snow and its going to get cold and blow.

Calving wasn't the best this week. We had one born dead yesterday and one laid on last night. Here's a story you won't believe... We had a heifer calve last week and she lost the calf but she wasn't done, she had another a week later! The vet says this is extremely rar...
